This is the awkward part where I get to write about how awesome I am.
I've studied at Pasadena Art Center and California State University Fullerton, earning degree concentrations in animation and illustration. On the side, I took as many art classes as possible and developed skills in ceramics, sculpture, metal casting, printmaking and various other crafts just for the sheer enjoyment of it. I interned at Cartoon Network Studios and later worked as a prop and set designer for many film projects. I also earned teaching credentials and worked as an instructor of beginning drawing, intermediate drawing, watercolor and oil painting at Mission: Renaissance fine art academy.
Eventually, I married into the military life and now get to move to cool new places every few years, depending on where the job takes us. I now work primarily from my home studio as an artist and illustrator. Besides all my random contract work, I also offer my crafts at TursiArt.etsy.com and sell my work in gift shops, galleries and festivals.
When I'm not creating art, I love spending time outside exploring the natural world. I volunteer with the Fungal Diversity Survey (formerly the North American Mycoflora Project),
Exploring the forest for rare and unusual mushrooms for vouchering and DNA sequencing. You can learn more about the project at fundis.org
I also serve on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Mycological Society. I am the Social Media Chair for the South Sound Mushroom Club, and I am the Arts & Graphics Committee Chair for the North American Mycological Society.
